Traveling exhibit focuses on children waiting to be adopted
On average, older children and sibling groups are less likely to be adopted than their younger, solo counterparts.
The Heart Gallery of Central Texas exists solely to build awareness for children awaiting adoption – most of them considered “hard-to-place.” A project of the Adoption Coalition of Texas and CASA organizations across Central Texas, the organization engages over 60 Texas-based photographers to capture the personalities of children in foster care. The photographs then become featured as art exhibits in museums, galleries and public spaces across the area to raise support for and interest in children who don’t have permanent homes.
Daily, at least 600 children in Central Texas await adoption. The Heart Gallery hopes to move residents to consider adopting a child from foster care… children whose biological parents have had their rights terminated – often because of abuse or neglect. The gallery, featuring nearly 150 children, can also be viewed online at www.heartgallerytexas.com.
